Having lived in the city all her life, Barbara has a fascination with the busy, fast moving pace of the environment we are in. But it was a few years ago, when she travelled and spent time in the Gobi Desert, that she started to realize how powerful space could be and how it affects the way we feel. Barbara is interested in different spaces, both the actual and the imaginary, her work is about an investigation of the relationship, the connection and the contradiction between the imaginary/our inner body space and the space around us; how the two mirror and affect each other.
Barbara graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons.) from the Chelsea College of Arts & Design in London (2011). Since then, she has undertaken a fellowship in bronze casting and residencies within Finland, China and Japan. Barbara has exhibited widely throughout the UK, Finland and Japan.
